HAIRCUT 100 -- OR ARI GETS A NEW WAVE

(apologies for the bad puns, which you probably don't get if you didn't watch MTV in its first incarnation)

Detail-oriented picture devotees may have noticed that Ari's hair has gotten progressively long and scraggly. The too-cute pigtails were the original solution, but even they couldn't fully do the job, which is why three weeks ago, Ari paid a visit to George the Barber, who has been cutting her daddy's hair since he was two (and her grandfather's hair for who-knows-how-long...and her great-grandfather's hair when he was alive). Ari was quite the little trooper. She hardly fussed, and when she did, she was easily distracted by her entourage. (She was observed by her parents, grandparents, aunt and a family that was in there for a haircut when we arrived and decided to stay -- yes, you read that right -- Ari charmed four strangers so much they watched her get her first haircut!) She only got really upset when George cut the hair right above her eyes, and that IS a little scary, so we can't really count that.

The "before" picture: Grammy Fran wondered if one of us would have to sit in the chair and hold Ari. Nope, the horsie took care of that. It's actually part of a platform that fits across the chair.

On with the cape, grab the scissors, and away we go!

What is this strange old man doing to my hair? Aaah, never mind, let's see what Grandpa and Mommy (in mirror) have to say.

Look at me, I'm beautiful! (George gave her some nice bangs and left it curly in the back, and he gave us the hair in an envelope.)

NEXT: THE LITTLE MERMAID?
