Ari was greeted warmly by cousin Sophie on our visit
to Binghamton for cousin Evan's fourth birthday. |
It's not easy getting six cousins between the ages
of 1/2 and 7 to pose for a group photo. Where's Hannah? Sophie,
we can't see you behind Ari! Evan, get your foot out of Naomi's
face! |
 |
 |
|
Take two -- everyone present, but Naomi decided a
pillow was more photogenic than her brother, and Hannah decided
to practice her dance poses. |
Take three -- ready for cameras, but where do we smile
first? |

We went to Boston at the beginning of May to visit
cousins and introduce Ari to one of Scott's favorite North End
institutions -- Pizzeria Regina, a long-standing, family-owned,
brick-oven pizza parlor. Lisa, as a Midwest native, is still
partial to Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and also likes Bertucci's
(and refuses to choose whether Bertucci's or Regina is better),
but one of the family rules is never turn down decent pizza! |
Sitting at our booth. See the oil on the table?
I never figured out why the proprietors think anyone wants to
ADD oil to the pizza -- there is plenty of grease already; as
it is, you have to let the pizza stand for a few minutes before
you can eat it. |

Daddy and Ari drool over their pepperoni pizza
-- his favorite! Lisa has gone for vegetable toppings in the
past, but we decided conclusively that night that veggies hold
too much water to allow the cheese to set properly. It's plain
cheese or 'roni from now on. |
Scott's cousins Alan and Suzanne Posner (Alan's
mother was Grand-Nan's younger sister, which makes him a cousin
once removed), who introduced him to the Regina tradition. |

|
As you can see, Ari loved the pizza. Unfortunately,
you can't see from the picture that she's also supporting another
Boston insitution -- she's wearing a Red Sox warm-up suit. |
We thought it was a little too cold to have
gelato for dessert, so we picked up some cookies from a North
End bakery. Ari seemed to enjoy them (though she's wild about
ice cream). |
 |
NEXT: ARI MEETS THE ERMANS! |
|
Elizabeth Posner (Alan and Suzanne's older daughter),
works in Natick, so we met her for lunch at Joan and Ed's deli
(yes, they have good deli in Natick), before a marathon drive
to New Hampshire and back (in a very roundabout way) to see more
friends and relatives! Ari was awesome on the trip! (Of course,
she didn't have to drive -- she slept.) |
