NorthEast Radio Watch 9/14 & 9/21/2026: Connoisseur Cuts in CT

In this week’s issue… WICC, WEBE lose staffers – Remembering NYC’s Buc Wild, Canada’s mills – New talent in Montreal – More sports radio in Buffalo

By SCOTT FYBUSH

[Programming note: NERW may continue to appear on a slightly irregular schedule for the next few weeks as your editor gets caught up on a huge work backlog and continues to recover from my back and leg issues. Thanks for your patience!]

*It’s not just the huge radio companies making job cuts this time of year – it’s also medium-sized owners like Connoisseur, which let two veteran air talents go from its CONNECTICUT home base last week.

Storm N Norman, who had been with WEBE (107.9 Westport) in two stints going back to 1984, and Paul Pacelli, the WICC (600/95.9) afternoon host who’d been with the talk station since 2019, were both pulled off the air without a farewell.

“We certainly hope [Norman] will remain a part of WEBE in some capacity,” Connoisseur programming chief Keith Dakin told CTInsider. “Regardless of what comes next, Norm will always be a part of the WEBE family. He is a good friend of the station, and we are grateful for everything he has brought to WEBE and our listeners over the years.”

Norman had apparently been working on a part-time basis since he returned to WEBE in 2019, six years after his full-time retirement. His replacement will be Jon Kamal, who adds WEBE morning duties to his other jobs, hosting “The Download” midday show on WICC and tracking nights on WPLR (99.1).

With Pacelli off the WICC schedule in afternoons, Kamal’s show will be followed by the syndicated Markley, Van Camp & Robbins from 2 to 5, followed by a repeat of Kamal’s “Download” from 5-7.

Looking to get into station ownership? Our StationSale division has some great new listings for you, including a major market FM translator opportunity, a profitable Midwest FM, an inexpensive entry into a fast-growing Western market, and a turnkey profitable FM/AM/translator small-market combo that’s ready for a new owner. Drop me a line at scott@fybush.com and I’ll set you up with an NDA and all the details…

And if your noncommercial FM station is ready to think about translators, there’s a filing window coming soon from the FCC and it’s the perfect time to start making plans.
