In this week’s episode –
It was a longer hiatus than we intended, but Top of the Tower is back with a new spring season of conversations with some of the most interesting people in radio.
This week, we move north as we start our recap of the Radiodays North America conference that took place in early May in Toronto as part of the larger Departures music and film festival.
Arielle Nissenblatt is a podcast evangelist, helping people produce better podcasts and find more interesting listening through her work with EarBuds Podcast Collective and Audily – but she’s also a big fan of good radio content, whether it’s live or in podcast form.
I’ve been following Arielle online for years, so it was a treat to get to sit down with her in person for a wide-ranging chat about how traditional “radio” skills translate to engaging podcasts, what her generation of listeners thinks about radio, why your podcast doesn’t need video, and – of course – what she’s listening to right now.
(And how to ride through equipment problems, too; listen carefully toward the end of the episode when we had to switch to my cellphone’s voice recorder because of an equipment glitch!)
Join us again next week for a “Top of the Tower” first: a look back at some of the big topics at Radiodays North America in tandem with Canada’s Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast.
