In this week’s episode –
It was a longer hiatus than we intended, but Top of the Tower is back with a new spring season of conversations with some of the most interesting people in radio.
This week, we continue bringing you some highlights of our chats at the NAB Show last month in Las Vegas, and at the Public Radio Engineering Conference that preceded it.
We wish more people had been at an afternoon NAB session that connected the Broadcast Education Association and NAB conferences.
Andy Gladding of Hofstra University and Val Turco of SUNY New Paltz were among the speakers, talking about how they’re teaching the broadcasters of tomorrow to get excited about our business. I had the pleasure of speaking with both of them after the session, and I hope you’ll also be inspired by the energy and insight they bring to their jobs.
(And for both of them, education is just part of what they do – you can hear Val on WRRV/WRRB in the Hudson Valley, while Andy is the director of engineering for Salem Media in New York and now the co-owner of WKZE-FM in the Hudson Valley. Keep listening to hear about that new venture, too!)
